Founder & Creative Director
From early on in her career, Madeleine discovered that residential design was her true passion. The greatest reward for her comes from seeing collaborative efforts with clients transform into beautifully curated spaces that reflect their unique needs and visions.
With over a decade in business, she’s had the privilege of working on hundreds of homes and connecting with a diverse range of personalities. Madeleine thrives on the opportunity to engage with new clients and envision how to bring their dreams to life.
Her expertise extends beyond client interactions, she’s applied her skills to three personal home renovations and started her professional journey in finishing carpentry. Leading a team of skilled designers, Madeleine draws from her hands-on experience and knowledge of construction to ensure every project is a success.
Carol Chan
LEAD INTERIOR DESIGNER
Carol has been with Madeleine Design Group for over 7 years, evolving and growing with the business. Carol has a love for contemporary and transitional design that has been influenced by her travels.
Carol’s strong technical skills, attention to detail, and her ability to work with clients in English or Cantonese makes her an invaluable member of our team.
Alexa Carruthers
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Alexa has over 10 years of experience in finance and operations. After many years in retail banking, she transitioned to the building industry; she gained experience on both sides of the business by working for construction companies and consulting firms.
As the Director of Operations and Business Development, Alexa keeps the team on track, the business running smoothly, and the atmosphere welcoming as she’s the first team member that prospective clients will meet.
Heather Chapman
LEAD DESIGNER/ INTERIOR DESIGN MANAGER
Heather has 14 years of professional experience. She has a bachelors degree in interior design, and holds the title of Registered Interior Designer (RID). She also holds a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation specializing in Interior Design & Construction.
Heather’s skill set goes beyond qualifications. Her approach emphasizes thoughtful design solutions, meticulously customized to meet the unique preferences and needs of each individual client.
Ellie Taylor
JUNIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER
Ellie joined MDG in 2023 as an intern while completing her Interior Design diploma at BCIT. Now part of our team as a Junior Interior Designer, she brings a fresh perspective, strong design sensibility, and a collaborative spirit to every project.
With a solid foundation of academic training and real-world experience, Ellie is passionate about thoughtful design and dedicated to delivering exceptional client service. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail make her a valuable contributor to our team and to the success of our projects.
Danielle Reitsma
FURNITURE & DECOR MANAGER
Danielle Reitsma brings 18 years of hands-on experience in the furniture industry. Her experience extends from sales and showroom maintenance to purchasing and installation, all driven by her early passion for interior design.
Her personal style is a refined blend of comfortable modern, mid-century, and West Coast contemporary. A lover of natural wood and greenery, Danielle excels at integrating organic influence into her designs and creating spaces that embrace life’s everyday messes!
