Willoughby Traditional Townhome

LANGLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA

This renovation reimagined a builder-spec townhome into a warm, character-filled family sanctuary for a busy Langley household. With a deep appreciation for traditional millwork, the clients’ vision guided every detail, from the bespoke cabinetry in the kitchen to the custom carpentry that flows seamlessly throughout the main level.

Designed to support a bustling family of six – including homeschooling for four children, functionality was as paramount as beauty. Every inch of storage was thoughtfully considered, ensuring the home’s footprint works tirelessly to meet the family’s daily needs.

A standout transformation was the reimagining of an oversized powder room into a welcoming sitting room. This versatile space now serves as the heart of family life, housing a piano, a storage credenza, and a cozy seating area – perfect for music, connection, or quiet moments together.

Adding a unique layer to this project, the husband, who also served as the contractor, brought his craftsmanship directly to the home. His hands-on involvement paired beautifully with his wife’s keen eye for timeless pieces and curated finds, evident in the coffee table, dining set, piano, and hutch. The kitchen island glows beneath vintage pendants sourced from Scott Landon Antiques, while a mix of new treasures and previously loved pieces from The Shop by Madeleine completes the styling. The result is a home that is both traditionally rooted and distinctly lived-in, a space that embraces elegance without sacrificing everyday warmth.
