West 23rd Traditional Update

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Madeleine Design Group transformed an underutilized basement into a cohesive, spa-like retreat, uniting a luxurious bathroom and an elevated laundry/mudroom through a shared vision of timeless design and modern refinement.

The bathroom was reimagined as a spacious wellness haven, featuring a steam shower with bench seating, a freestanding tub set against a tiled feature wall, and a large, symmetrical vanity. These elements are layered with classic materials like marble, hand-glazed subway tile, and light-stained shaker cabinetry, accented by warm brass fixtures. Complementing this, the laundry/mudroom was redesigned to balance practicality and beauty, introducing a soft ocean-glass palette carried through the cabinetry, mosaic backsplash, and a custom hexagon tile floor with a subtle floral motif. Thoughtful reconfiguration of both spaces maximized flow and functionality, from improved layouts and storage to the integration of double pocket doors and refined appliance placement, while material selections such as a vintage-style brass faucet, apron-front fireclay sink, and brushed nickel hardware blend traditional character with fresh detailing.

Together, these spaces elevate everyday routines, delivering a harmonious, elegant environment that feels both serene and enduring.
