Located in Langley, BC, this house was originally built 17 years ago by the clients with the same contractor that performed this renovation and recommended our team. It was a fairly typical design for the area, but with grown kids and a desire to stay in the family home, the client wanted to do away with the “traditional” motif, and completely modernize the house in a dramatic fashion.

We relocated the dining room to the other side of the kitchen and removed a bedroom on the second floor to create a centred front entrance. This allowed us to feature a double height ceiling and a structural steel floating staircase underneath where an impressive openly-displayed wine collection lives. The main living space was completely redesigned and transformed into a modern Great Room. The entire exterior wall was removed and restructured with a steel moment frame to accommodate the taller sliding glass doors and higher clerestory windows. The doors fully open to create an incredible indoor-outdoor space.

Finally, the black-on-black kitchen is the real centerpiece of the home. The eye-popping space features black marble countertops, high-end appliances, and a sleek “magazine ready” look.
